This is an excellent book. I am a huge fan of income producing products and I've subscribed to Richard Lehman's newsletter on that subject since 2003 with very gratifying results. Mr. Stooker's book is a welcome addition to a very narrow field. He writes clearly and extensively on a complex subject and I am researching some very solid possibilities as a result of "Income Investing Secrets". The language can be a little casual but is always relevant and does not detract. Most importantly, a beginner could easily develop a very gratifying income producing strategy from this experience. His specific recommendations towards the end are also very solid but you still need to do your own research. He would provide a great service to his readers through a financial blog following and updating his strategies and recommendations. As Rod Stewart said: "the wisdom of a lifetime no one can ever tell" but Mr. Stooker comes very close. Enjoy and profit!

Relief in a confusing investment world

Whew! Someone has finally explained what's most reliable and what's not in today's apparently-volatile investment world. Even better, this book explains it all using broad, easy-to-understand concepts and everyday language.

I used to invest regularly. Oh, it wasn't very much, so I didn't lose sleep over financial headlines during the past couple of years. Frankly, I'm not even an armchair stockbroker; I simply chose companies I liked to feel a connection to.

However, I did step on the brakes when several banks and investment firms folded. I was unwilling to risk money that might otherwise be spent on something more entertaining... and reliable.

This book restored my understanding -- and confidence -- in investments. Before I recognized the differences between trading and investing... well, I lumped the entire realm of stocks, bonds, etc., into one large, liability-fraught category.

Now, I have a far better understanding of what's safe, what's foolish, and the most solid approach to long-term investments.

The "ah-HA!" moments throughout this book will provide relief for anyone who -- in the past -- handed money to a broker or investment firm and crossed their fingers.

They say that knowledge is power. Well, this book definitely provides the knowledge that will empower any investor (small or large) to make better decisions in a changing marketplace.

If you're a current investor, or someone who'd like to invest but the economy makes you nervous, this is definitely the book to read.

This is a must read (and I don't say that lightly)

I like reading business and investment books, but this one blows them all out of the water!
It's not that other books aren't good. Some even very good. But this one is so in-depth, it weighs all the pros and cons of each investment vehicle, it quotes a lot of research and proves what works and what doesn't. And it does it all in a way that anyone can understand.

It's also geared toward something we should all think about - the long term.

I'm so impressed with this book, that I'm going to buy several for my immediate family so we can all share in these investment secrets.

I'm going to keep a sharp lookout for all of Richard Stooker's books from now on.

About the Author

Kelly-Kate Pease case is Associate Professor of International Relations at Webster University-St. Louis. She earned her PH.D. from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and has published several articles on humanitarian intervention and human rights.

this book assumes that you know nothing of international relations and international organizations. thus, in this context it explains things in a very simple straight forward manner. in addition, pease is repetitive in her analysis of realism, liberalism, marxism and feminism. however, i find that her analysis is limited and fails to take a nuanced approach to the aforementioned theories. in short, her analysis is elementary. i really wouldn't recommend this book to anyone, especially in consideration of the price. to me, a book on international organizations should have a brief theory section, but then examine organizations and their problems in greater depth. furthermore, while reading this book, i was struck with the question of whether or not pease actually wrote this book herself, or if her grad students helped her. there appear to be distinct inconsistencies in writing style between chapters. regardless, this book is mediocre, there are plenty of better scholars.

Lobster Boy

I have been trying to get my eldest grandson (age 10) to become excited about reading, and, as he comes from a family of renowned fishermen in Bermuda, I thought he would be encouraged to read "fishy" stories. He thoroughly enjoyed "Young Man and the Sea" by Rodman Philbrick, so I thought I'd order Lobster Boy!!!! You can imagine how disappointed I was when I started reading the first few pages (yes I read the material first) only to find out that this book is exactly the same story as Young Man and the Sea with a different title. So disappointed. This should be indicated somewhere in the write up on both books.

The best of the best can make $100,000 plus, annually. The raise in salary can also come from a willingness to work in remote places, such as deep sea welding.

In addition to good wages, a welding career offers a number of attractive features. Welders can work anywhere in the world. The skills and techniques can be applied anywhere, from the bottom of the ocean to outer space. Even in the most common industries, there are opportunities to move around and pursue work that aligns with personal interests. For example, a welder working in an auto factory in chilly Detroit could have a desire to be closer to the beaches where the sun is warm and the fishing is exceptional. On these foundations, the heart of the book is a synthetic exposition of the persons of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit in their divine being and mutual relations, and in their action for us. Finally, the last step takes up again the study of the creative and saving action of the Trinity: the book concludes with a doctrinal exposition of the "missions" of the Son and Holy Spirit, that is, the salvific sending of the Son and Holy Spirit that leads humankind to the contemplation of the Father.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Gilles Emery, a Dominican priest of the Swiss province of Preachers, is professor of dogmatic theology at the University of Fribourg, Switzerland. He is an elected member of the International Theological Commission and the author of several books, including The Trinitarian Theology of Saint Thomas Aquinas and Trinity, Church, and the Human Person. Matthew Levering, professor of theology at the University of Dayton, is author of several books, most recently Christ and the Catholic Priesthood, and coeditor of Thomas Aquinas's Commentary on the Gospel of John.

About the Author
Matthew Levering (PhD, Boston College) is the James N. and Mary D. Perry Jr. Chair of Theology at Mundelein Seminary, University of Saint Mary of the Lake, in Mundelein, Illinois. He previously taught at the University of Dayton. Levering is the author of numerous books, including "Engaging the Doctrine of Revelation", "Proofs of God", "The Theology of Augustine, "and "Ezra & Nehemiah" in the Brazos Theological Commentary on the Bible series, and is the coauthor of "Holy People, Holy Land". He serves as coeditor of the journals "Nova et Vetera" and the "International Journal of Systematic Theology" and has served as chair of the board of the Academy of Catholic Theology since 2007.

Best introductory textbook on the doctrine of the Trinity

Probably the best introductory textbook I have read on the doctrine of the Trinity. Highly recommended. "Catholic" should be read as "ecumenical" or "creedal," not necessarily Latin. (I write this as an Anglican theology professor who would not hesitate to use this text in a Systematics course.)

Good Introduction to the Trinity

This is a great introduction to the Trinity which we used in the seminary. It is not too heavy or technical, and doesn't presuppose any extensive philosophical background. I would recommend it for the beginner theologian.
