Happily Ever After

An unexpected third installment to the beloved Breakaway series was the perfect ending to an unfortunate beginning. It's been fourteen years since Naomi's kidnapping. She's learned how to stand on her own feet and be her own woman. In the previous novel Pieces we were introduced to Finn. Naomi and Finn tried dating, but it didn't work out in the end. Being a manager of an Italian restaurant in Italy has kept her very busy. But when Naomi runs into one of her captors Evelyn things start to change. She feels incomplete in many ways. With some convincing she decides to make closure with her past. The biggest one being with Jesse who was not only her captor, but the boy she fell in love with. The boy who kept her alive during the whole ordeal. Naomi and Jesse have both changed for the better and come to find that they are at a crossroads. They both still have feeling for each other, but it's a question of are they real or are they still from the past? This book made one of the most beloved series I have ever read finally complete. Finally the way I wanted things to end with Naomi and Jesse. In the two previous stories I knew they ended bittersweet because it was for the best. This time we finally got to see Naomi have her true happily ever after. I hope this is finally the end because it's the best ending for her in my opinion.

Brilliant end to a great series!

Final part of the Breakaway trilogy is epic! Very happy ending & a happy reader!) I'm heavily biased as I'm a Breakaway fangirl, and know Michelle online. (It is called The Breakaway, but originally it was just Breakaway, which is what I'm used to, hence why I call it that a lot). That said I can't stress how wonderful this novel is. Naomi has matured a lot since she was kidnapped and returned, it was fascinating seeing her live her dream of being in Italy, which was a much nicer experience than when she first went there with Jesse in book 2, Pieces.
I'm so glad she had a mentor of sorts to help her through seeing her kidnappers again – that was a meeting I was super excited to read as I wasn't sure how she'd react. All the way through the novel all previous characters who I both loved and hated acted true to themselves, some had changed for the better, others not so much. The ending is perfection, and while I always like to know what happens next, I'm happy with where I leave Naomi, and am looking forward to rereading this again and again.

a nice taste of the grown-up Naomi

I am a huge fan of "The Breakaway" and "Pieces", and Argyle's writing in general. "Unbroken" is a satisfying end to Naomi's story. After all the hell that girl went through in the previous novels, her story in this novella is refreshing and deserved. It still has its tense moments, definitely, but for the most part, this is a deep, beautifully-written look inside a character who has already existed for some time. And considering this is a novella instead of a full-length novel, I think just enough information was given...a nice taste of the grown-up Naomi.
Oh, and speaking of taste, be warned: this novella will make your mouth water like crazy. All the gorgeously written details of the Italian food add the perfect touch. ;)
